Q: What is an “album”?
A: An album is a collection of pictures that you have added to your Shutterfly account. When you initially add pictures to Shutterfly, you must either create a new album or add to an existing album. After your pictures are included in an album, you have many options for copying, moving, arranging, organizing, deleting, or searching. Albums allow you to organize pictures according to your needs.

Q: Can I place a picture in more than one album?
A: Yes, you certainly can.

To copy a picture to another album:

If you have just added pictures to Shutterfly, you can click on ‘View the Pictures’ from the Add Pictures confirmation page. If you are creating an album on the View Albums & Shares page, click on ‘View Pictures’. You can also access View Pictures directly from the My Shutterfly page by clicking the green ‘View & enhance’ button.

On the View Pictures page, select the picture(s) you want to copy. Then click Organize pictures (on the right) to list the organizing options. Then click Copy pictures.

On the ‘Copy pictures’ page, select whether you want to copy the picture(s) to a the same album, an existing album, or a new album (fill in the title of your choice, up to 24 characters).

Click on the ‘Okay’ button, and your picture will be copied into the selected album.

Q: How do I select a picture to use for the album’s cover?
A: To select an album cover picture:

Click the green View & enhance button on the main navigation bar. Then click the Albums selector to get to the My Albums page.

On the My Albums page, select the album you wish to change the cover for by clicking the spot underneath it. Then click Change album cover on the right side.

On the Choose album cover page, select the picture you wish to use for the cover by clicking the spot underneath it. Then click the blue Next button to use the picture for the album cover. Doing this will not alter the sequence of pictures in the album. When you view your albums, you will see the picture you selected displayed as the album cover.

Q: How do I create an album?
A: When you add pictures to Shutterfly, you can create an album to place your pictures in by selecting the ‘New Album’ option. (See Adding Your Pictures.) Or you can create an album before you load pictures into it from the ‘My albums’ page. To create an album from the ‘My albums’ page:

Click View & enhance on the My Shutterfly page.

On the ‘My albums’ page, click the Create a new album link on the right side. On that page, enter the new album name (up to 24 characters) in the Album Name field. (Today’s date is the default album title.) You’ll see some fields that automatically list the number of pictures, the album’s creation date, and any modification dates. These are non-editable fields and some may be empty when you first create an album.

Enter any notes about the album that you want to include.

Click the Save now button. On the ‘My albums’ page, you’ll see your new album listed. It will appear as an empty album until you add (or move or copy) pictures to it.

A: To delete an album:

Click View & enhance on the My Shutterfly page.

On the ‘My albums’ page, select the album you want to delete by clicking the spot underneath it. Then click the Delete album link on the right.

A window will appear asking you to confirm that you want to delete the selected album and all its pictures. Click the ‘OK’ button; when you return to the View Albums page, the deleted album is gone.

You can also follow this procedure to delete albums that people have shared with you. To do this, go to the ‘My albums’ page and then click the gray Shared albums tab. You can then delete those albums using the same method.

Q: If I delete an album, what happens to the pictures that were in it?
A: All of the pictures in a deleted album are removed from your Shutterfly account, so be careful when you delete a whole album. If there are pictures in an album that you want to keep, move them to another album using the Move or Copy feature — then delete the first album.

Q: What is the "view as slide show" feature, and how do I use it?
A: You can view a whole album as a slide show that automatically shows each picture in order. You can pause the slide show and resume it as you like. If you want to view only selected pictures in an album as a slide show, just select the pictures you want included and run the show. Here's how:

First, click the green View & enhance button on the main navigation bar. Then select the album you want to view by clicking the spot underneath it; then view the pictures in the album by clicking the Pictures selector to get to the 'My pictures' page.

Then click View as a Slide Show (on the right) if you want to view all of the pictures in the album as a slide show. If you want to only include some of the pictures in the slide show, select the ones you want by checking the checkboxes underneath them first.

In the Slide Show, each picture in the album automatically appears sequentially. Click on Pause and Play to stop and start the show as you like. Click Next and Previous to go back and forth within the show. If you selected only some of the pictures, the 'Selected' checkbox is marked.

If you want the show to go faster or slower, select a longer or shorter time interval between slides in the drop-down box.

If you want to view only the slides and remove the controls, click Hide Controls.

To exit the slide show, click Exit Slide Show.

Q: How can I find specific pictures?
A: Shutterfly’s Find feature allows you to search for pictures in your account. To access the Find feature, click the ‘Find’ icon at the top of the page when viewing your albums or pictures.

You can choose a variety of options to narrow your search. You can limit your search by date range; filename, title or description; whether or not you have ordered a picture; and whether you have marked it as a favorite.

Once you have entered the search criteria, click Find now to display the Search results page. You work with the results in a variety of ways, including copying them to a new album, ordering prints of selected pictures, marking them as favorites, and viewing the results as a slideshow.
