Can’t find the answer to your question here? Contact us Q: How do I add pictures to Shutterfly One By One? First, make sure you are signed in to your account, then click 'Add pictures' on the green menu bar. On the Add pictures page, choose whether you want to create a new album or add to an existing album. Then click the 'Next' button. Select your pictures from your hard drive using the Browse buttons. Note: you might have to change the "files of type" drop-down option to "all files". To see a preview of the image you selected, click on the 'Preview' link. Click the 'Add now' button. Your pictures will begin transferring. A pop-up window informs you of the progress of the transfer. When pictures are fully transferred, a confirmation message appears. Q: Can I enter an HTTP or FTP URL in the Browse field? Q: What should I do to prepare my images to be transferred to the Shutterfly server? Q: How do I use the Picture Upload Assistant page?
Once the Picture Upload Assistant has been installed, you can then use it to easily add pictures to your account. To add pictures, you can browse for pictures by clicking the orange 'Choose pictures...' button and then following the steps to select pictures. Alternately, you can drag and drop your pictures into the window from a folder on your computer. As soon as the pictures are selected (or dragged-and-dropped), they will automatically begin uploading to Shutterfly by default*. A small thumbnail will appear, the filename, size, and the transfer status of the picture**. The number of pictures remaining to be uploaded will appear, along with the total time to upload all the pictures. There will also be buttons that allow you to pause or resume the transfer. If you are transferring a large number of pictures, the status of each picture upload will continue until all the selected pictures have finished uploading***. The status will change to "complete" for successfully uploaded pictures. Occasionally, a transfer will have an error, indicated by a message that says 'Error - Click for details'. You can use the 'Retry' link to try the transfer again; if that doesn't work, you can browse to the picture (or drag-and-drop it) to upload it again. Once the pictures have transferred, a message will appear letting you know the pictures have been added to your account. You then have the option of adding more pictures, or viewing your pictures. At this point, the pictures are in your account, and you can sort, order, enhance, share, or create cards/gifts with them.
* You have the option to turn off the automatic uploading feature by clicking on the 'Preferences' button. Uncheck the box controlling automatic uploading, and save your preferences. ** To remove a picture from the transfer window, select it and click the 'remove' button. (Once you've done that, it will not be uploaded). To remove more than one picture at a time hold the Control or Shift key down to highlight the images, and then click the 'remove' button. And of course, you can add the pictures again later if you do decide you'd like to have them in your account. *** The plug-in will arrange pictures alphabetically based on the filename when uploading. Q: How do I add my pictures with the Shutterfly Express for Windows software? A: On your desktop, click on Start > Programs > Shutterfly Express > Shutterfly Express software. The software opens. Click the orange 'Get pictures' button at the top left of the program. Then browse your way to the folder you would like to upload (add) pictures from. Use the 'Back' and 'Up' buttons in the program to navigate. Your pictures will appear in the window as thumbnails (smaller images). When you are at the correct folder and see the picures you would like to add, click the orange 'Get these pictures' button. Select the ones you like by checking the small box in the lower-left corner of the thumbnail. A red check will appear in that box for any that you have selected. Then click the blue 'Upload' button. The Upload Wizard will open and connect to Shutterfly. Enter your email address and Shutterfly password where prompted, and click the 'Next' button to sign in. When you have successfully signed in, the 'Choose Album' dialog appears. Choose from one of your existing Shutterfly albums or enter a new album name to upload your pictures to, and click the blue 'Next' button. A progress window will appear displaying the upload progress of the pictures you are adding to your Shutterfly album, with estimated time remaining. You can pause and resume your upload from this window. When the upload is complete, you will be given a choice of returning to the Shutterfly Express software, or going to the Shutterfly site to view your pictures. Choose an option and click the 'Finish' button. |
