General Ledger (G/L) Accounting Manager

The General Ledger (G/L) Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing key accounting processes, supervising the timely reconciliation and resolution of daily transactional activities and leading the month-end general ledger close. The G/L manager will work closely with the Company’s public accounting firm (PricewaterhouseCoopers) during the quarterly and annual review/audit process. This position will also play a key role in improving the current close processes and accounting system capabilities, and will interact frequently with all Company departments. The successful applicant will be a hands-on leader and will joining a fun, high-growth company. The G/L Manager will report directly to the Corporate Controller and will initially have two to four direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the Company’s general ledger accounting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Review journal entries, financial reports, reconciliations, and analyses prepared by staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with established company policies, GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain processes, procedures, and systems to ensure that company policies are implemented, transactions are properly accounted for and recorded and reports are generated and analyzed on a timely basis
  • Work closely with the Company’s Financial Planning & Analysis during month-end close process
  • Prepare for quarterly reviews and year-end audit, and interface directly with the Company’s external auditors
  • Implement new processes to streamline the timeliness and accuracy of key accounting cycles
  • Work with business development team to set up accounting and revenue recognition for new partnerships and BD initiatives
  • Assist in the developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining of internal controls policies/procedures and to ensure the Company is compliant with documented internal policies in conjunction with our Sarbanes-Oxley efforts
  • Lead, develop and mentor accounting staff; identify appropriate professional development / training for self and staff
  • Other special projects as required

Qualifications

  • Candidate must demonstrate unquestionable personal and professional integrity Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • 5 - 7 years experience, including prior supervisory and/or public accounting experience; public company experience a plus
  • Should be knowledgeable of ERP systems, with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) accounting software experience a plus
  • Good technical accounting skills with understanding of current GAAP, SEC, Sarbanes-Oxley issues
  • Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Need the ability to work in fast pace and high-growth environment and be willing to “roll-up her/his sleeves” to get the job done
  • The ideal candidate will have great communication skills, be highly organized, be detail oriented, have excellent analytical skills, and be a team player
