Senior Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

You’ll help design and implement important infrastructure projects, ranging from moving our 1000+ server farm from Intel to AMD to deploying, scaling and tuning our database clusters. You’ll also work on various development projects to automate any part of our collective world so that Hal can do all. In the mean time, you’ll be part of an on-call rotation—sorry!

You’ll interact with many teams including QA, Development, Network and Database Engineers as well as the folks in Finance, Product and Marketing. Because what we do makes a difference everywhere.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Advanced kernel, system and storage performance tuning
• Thrive on optimization, performance improvements and a good benchmarking bake off
• Able to converse in Perl or python and shell
• Can articulate in 3 words or less why MSFT should be replaced by bash shell
• Can creatively solve complex problems
• Can make any cross functional project succeed with dogged determinism
• Able to contribute to the antics, shenanigans and rubber band wars
• Advanced storage and SAN experience – FC, SCSI, NFS, FCIP, NDMP etc.
• Can figure just about anything out under pressure
• All the big Veritas product suites—Storage Foundation, NetBackup – you are the master
• A self start and highly motivated individual is required
• Paid experience working in a 24×7 ecommerce website
• Knows the difference between RIP, OSPF, BGP and IGRP
