Senior Software Engineer - Manufacturing Automation

Shutterfly is looking for a Software Engineer to join a small and diverse software team in developing infrastructure components, integrate varied output devices such as digital printers and presses, as well as integrate automated equipment used to manufacture, package and ship products in the Shutterfly printing and production facility.

Responsibilities:

• Acquiring a deep understanding of the technologies and architecture of the software and the production environment
• Design and development of scalable, data-intensive infrastructure
• Architecture design, database schema design, software design and implementation
• Integrate output devices and automated equipment used in finishing/shipping Shutterfly products
• This position will need to be available to go to both company locations, Redwood City and Hayward, CA

Qualifications:

• 5+ years programming experience
• Excellent knowledge of Object Oriented programming and design
• Ability to understand large complex systems
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced company with short release cycles
• Strong knowledge of Java, C++ a plus
• Excellent communication and personal skills
• Knowledge of image/graphics file formats a plus
• BS / MS in Computer Science desirable
